Royal Train

Yes, Romania used to be a monarchy (those old enough can remember). Many argue it was the most benefic period in the history of our country.

A piece of history preserved – the Royal Train is present these days in the Bucharest North Railway Station – part of an educational event (“A different kind of school”).

The train cars were built in 1928 at the Ernesto Breda factories in Milano. The steam locomotive 230 516 was built in Romania, at the Resita factories.

In the order of appearance:

  • steam locomotive 230 516
  • 51 53 89-10 010-5 Royal sleeping car (2 cabins with bath, kitchen)
  • 51 53 89-10 011-3 Saloon car with conference table
  • 51 53 89-10 001-4 Sleeping car for attendants (2 cabins with bath, 2 small cabins with 2 beds)
  • 51 53 89-10 015-4 Sleeping car 1st class (6 cabins)
  • 51 53 89-10 055-0 Sleeping car 2nd class (8 cabins with 2 beds each)

Bonus: Old and New – steam locomotive 230 516 and electric locomotive 91-53-0-473 003-8 “Phoenix” built by Softronic in 2009.

Bonus 2: Locomotive 91-53-0480 001-3 “Trans Montana” built by Softronic in 2010, the newest model in the CFR fleet.
