OpsMgr: Install Operations Manager 2007 R2

This procedure describes the steps for installing System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2.

Prerequisites

  • Active Directory and DNS servers were installed and configured for the domain TECHREADY.RO
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 with was installed on the server.
  • The server was joined to the domain.
  • Internet Information Services, ASP.NET, .NET Framework 2.0, .NET Framework 3.0, AJAX 1.0 and PowerShell were installed on the server.
  • The required Windows Server 2008 hotfixes were installed
  • SQL Server 2008 with Reporting Services was installed

Installation and configuration steps

  1. Logon on the server using the domain Administrator account.
  2. Launch the Server Manager Console, expand Configuration, Local Users and Groups, Groups and access the properties of Administrators local group.
  3. In the Administrators Properties window click Add.
  4. In the Select Users Computers or Groups window enter the name of the account to be used by SCOM services (SCOMSDK) and click Check Names then click OK.
  5. In the Administrators Properties window click OK.
  6. Launch the setup program for System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2. In the Start window select Check Prerequisites.
  7. In the Prerequisite Viewer window check all options and click Check
  8. In the Prerequisite Viewer window verify the requirements are met and click Close.
  9. In the Start window click Install Operations Manager 2007 R2.
  10. In the Welcome to the System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Setup Wizard window click Next.
  11. In the End-User License Agreement window select I accept the terms in the license agreement then click Next.
  12. In the Product Registration window enter the company details and click Next.
  13. In the Custom Setup window select all components and click Next.
  14. In the Prerequisite Check Passed window click Next.
  15. In the Management Group Configuration window enter a name for the Management Group then click Browse.
  16. In the Select Group window type the name of the group of Operations Manager administrators SCOMAdmins (they will use the console) then click OK.
  17. In the Management Group Configuration window click Next.
  18. In the SC Database Server Instance window verify the name of the SQL instance and click OK.
  19. In the Database and Log File Options click Next.
  20. In the Management Server Action Account window enter the credentials of the Server Action Account and click Next.
  21. In the SDK and Config Service Account window enter the credentials of the SDK and Service Account and click Next.
  22. In the Web Console Authentication Configuration window accept Use Windows Authentication and click Next.
  23. In the Operations Manager Error Reports window click Next.
  24. In the Customer Experience Improvement Program window click Next.
  25. In the Microsoft Update window configure update settings then click Next.
  26. In the Ready to Install the Program window click Install.
  27. In the Completing the System Center Operations Manager 2007 Setup Wizard window click Finish.
  28. Encryption Key Backup or Restore Wizard will start. At the Introduction window click Next.
  29. At the Backup or Restore? window select Backup the Encryption Key and click Next.
  30. At the Provide a Location window click Browse to select a folder and filename then click Next.
  31. At the Provide a Password window enter a password and click Next.
  32. At the Secure Storage Backup Complete window click Finish.
  33. Launch System Center Operations Manager 2007 console.
