Obtained the PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification

Today is a holiday, but I am happy to report that I have passed the exam and obtained the PRINCE2 Practitioner Certificate in Project Management.

I have attended last week the combined PRINCE2 Foundation & Practitioner course delivered by Hilde Corbu at Trilex. I can honestly say that without this course, I would not have been able to pass the exam.

The Practitioner exam is an open book exam, but is much, much more difficult than Foundation. Even you are allowed to have the book Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2® 6th Edition during the exam, there’s not much time to search, the book can be used just to confirm where a particular concept is listed in the PRINCE2 themes and principles.

Another reason for the difficulty of the exam is that there are a lot of details in the PRINCE2 book. During the course we discussed each theme and process in detail and Hilde provided us with  recommendations on how to best retain the concepts for the exams. We have also revied the Syllabus and Sample Papers provided by Axelos.

The PRINCE2 Practitioner certification is offered by Axelos via PeopleCert. The exam is closed book, is delivered online and can be taken from home. The Foundation certification is also a prerequisite for the Practitioner certification. The exam consists in 68 questions in 150 minutes, but the exam is scenario based, you have to read several scenarios, and respond to associated questions. Attention to details is a must.
