CfgMgr: Install System Center Configuration Manager 2007

This procedure describes the steps for installing System Center Configuration Manager 2007 with Service Pack 2 on the Primary Site Server, with SQL Server 2008 installed on the same server.

Prerequisites

  • Active Directory and DNS server are installed and configured for the domain TECHREADY.RO.
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 was installed on the server where Configuration Manager 2007 will be installed.
  • IIS, BITS, ASP and WebDAV Publishing were installed on the server.
  • SQL Server 2008 x64 with Service Pack 1 was installed on the server
  • WSUS 3.0 SP2 was installed on the server

Installation and Configuration

  1. Logon on the server with the domain Administrator account.
  2. Insert the Configuration Manager 2007 with Service Pack 2 installation CD in the DVD-ROM drive. In the Start window select Run the prerequisite checker.
  3. In the Installation Prerequisite Check Options window select Primary Site, enter the names of the SQL and Configuration Manager servers and click OK.
  4. In the Installation Prerequisite Check window verify the prerequisites were met then click OK.
  5. Launch the Setup program for Configuration Manager 2007 again. In the Start window on the Install section select Configuration Manager 2007 SP2.
  6. In the Welcome to the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 Setup Wizard window click Next.
  7. In the Available Setup Options window select Install a Configuration Manager site server then click Next.
  8. In the Microsoft Software License Terms window select I accept these license terms then click Next.
  9. In the Installation Settings window select Custom settings then click Next.
  10. In the Site Type window select Primary site then click Next.
  11. In the Custom Experience Improvement Program Configuration window click Next.
  12. In the Product Key window click Next. The key is already entered. If Product Key starts with BBH2G it is an evaluation version of Configuration Manager 2007.
  13. In the Destination Folder window accept the default path then click Next.
  14. In the Site Settings window enter the 3 letter site code (TRD) and the name of the site then click Next. This cannot be changed after install.
  15. In the Site Mode window select Configuration Manager Mixed Mode then click Next
  16. In the Client Agent Selection click Next.
  17. In the Database Server window verify the name of the server and the name of the database then click Next.
  18. In the SMS Provider Settings window verify that the name of the local server appears as the SMS Provider then click Next.
  19. In the Management Point window accept the option Install a management point, verify the name of the local server appears then click Next.
  20. In the Port Settings window accept all the default options (port 80) then click Next.
  21. In the Updated Prerequisite Components window select The latest updates have already been downloaded then click Next.
  22. In the window Updated Prerequisite Component Path enter the path to the folder where you downloaded the prerequisite files then click Next.
  23. In the Settings Summary window click Next.
  24. In the Instalation Prerequisite Check window verify the prerequisites then click Begin Install.
  25. The Setup Program will install Configuration Manager 2007.
  26. After installation, click Next.
  27. In the Completing the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 Setup Wizard window click Finish.
  28. From the Start menu launch the Configuration Manager Console.
